Greetings!
The United Nations recently released a global report, which is the first of its kind; it is a report on the state of the world's well-being and happiness.
The report starts from the idea that "development" is not solely related to gross national product levels, but incorporates so many other elements (physical and mental health, quality of work, relationships, altruism, the environment, etc.) Building on the work that Bhutan did several years ago when it developed its Gross National Happiness (GNH) report, this new UN effort acknowledges that the quality of life is far more complex than just balance sheet numbers reflect.
As we know so well, physical and mental health are crucial elements so please take time for yourself this month, and make time to volunteer; no doubt, you will increase your happiness and someone else's. Have a lovely spring, Nancy Nancy A. Kelly, MHS Executive Director |
