[Washington, DC - April 2, 2012] The Office of the Secretary of Washington, DC has issued an official proclamation declaring April 14, 2012 "Health Volunteers Overseas Day." Signed by District Mayor Vincent C. Gray, the proclamation recognizes HVO as a global leader in the development and implementation of educational programs designed to empower health care providers in developing countries. Mayor Gray calls on citizens of the District of Columbia to join him in commending Health Volunteers Overseas for their involvement in improving quality and access to global health care.
"The volunteers and supporters of our organization have been contributing to a healthier world for 25 years," said Nancy A. Kelly, Executive Director of Health Volunteers Overseas. "We are thrilled that the District has commemorated their work, and we look forward to celebrating these accomplishments with the citizens of Washington, DC on April 14th."

Health Volunteers Overseas incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in the District of Columbia on August 1, 1986.
