Greetings from Lone Mountain –
Happy New Year from all of us at Lone Mountain. We hope that your 2010 has begun well, and we send warm wishes to all.
We have been hard at work in preparation for the upcoming 3rd Annual Fullblood Wagyu Sale on April 17th and are excited to preview for you one of the featured lots in the sale: LMR KENICHI 807T.
Highly Ranked Herd Sire Prospect: LMR KENICHI 807T

One of the best bulls in our herd, LMR Kenichi 807T is pictured here at two and a half years of age. You can just imagine what he'll look like at four. We've compiled some data on him to whet your appetite about the superior quality of the Fullblood Wagyu animals that fill our April Sale catalog - and show you all of our cards. We've always held that data speaks louder than a salesman, so we let the figures do the talking. Have a look here.
Consumers of Wagyu Beef Get Some Schooling on Wagyu
As Wagyu producers it's a part of our daily ritual to scan the internet for news and mentions of Wagyu beef. To be sure, food writers have been scribbling for years now about Wagyu beef and how American consumers fancy the fine marbling despite the heftier tab. But we've noticed that, lately, consumers are getting a deeper dive into the Wagyu industry than ever before. Read more here.
Essential Primer on Linebreeding Now Back in Print
Back in 1991 Jim Lents - a Hereford breeder from Oklahoma - wrote an informative and illuminating primer on linebreeding, based on his years of experience. "The Basis of Linebreeding" has been out of print until a second printing not long ago. We cannot recommend it more highly. It is useful for all breeders, especially to new Wagyu breeders. The Japanese have been linebreeding their Wagyu for many years - more so than most Western Wagyu breeders. There is a permanent place on Lone Mountain bookshelves reserved for Lents' book; we have three dog-eared copies at the ranch. Mr. Lents will soon have a website for sales of the book, but until then, the book is available via mail. For domestic delivery, send a check or money order for $30 per book requested to: Jim Lents, 25398 SW Coombs Road, Indiahoma, OK 73552.

Warm regards,
Bob and Mary Estrin and Family and Lone Mountain Staff
