2010 Sale Date & Related Information

The 3rd Annual Lone Mountain Fullblood Wagyu Production Sale will be held on April 17, 2010.

We look forward to hosting you to a bigger, better and successful LMCC Production Sale in April 2010 – when we will offer the biggest and most impressive array of Fullblood Wagyu females ever offered for auction at a single venue in the United States.

Lone Mountain’s Own 100% Fullblood Wagyu Beef

We are currently spending a great deal of time on our Fullblood feeding program. We now have 61 Fullblood Wagyu on feed and hope to have 100 Fullblood on feed by year’s end. 31 were shipped to Iowa this week, where they will be finished at Hoye Feedlot in Villisca.

In the summer of 2010 Lone Mountain will be able to sell for the first time 100% Fullblood Wagyu Beef.

You will soon be able to reserve Whole, Half and Quarters directly from our website (via our secure online credit card merchant). Stay tuned for updates with ordering instructions.

In addition, we are targeting local and regional restaurants and other beef retailers as potential buyers of LMCC 100% Fullblood Wagyu. Already, an Albuquerque restaurant has agreed to provide customers with a Lone Mountain Fullblood Wagyu Green Chile Cheeseburger – and will enter their burgers in the NM State Fair Cook-off Contest in September.

Judging from the burgers we served at the Sale – Lone Mountain Fullblood Wagyu is delicious! At least we think so - and we are certain that the public will agree.

Lone Mountain Pioneering a New Grading System

With the considerable and recent changes in GeneSTAR (which until now has been a cornerstone of our marketing strategy) – we are currently totally re-thinking the system by which we grade our animals.

We are constructing a spreadsheet reflecting a greater emphasis on both Breedplan results and frame scores – and with less emphasis on GeneSTAR, although it is still included in our calculations.

It is our belief that a new grading system will best serve Lone Mountain and the Wagyu community if based on real numbers: those provided by Breedplan (in the form of EPD’s) are derived from weights and ultrasound scans (as authenticated by CUPLAB). Frame scores are also fact-based numbers.

We intend to use this new formula as a decision-making tool to identify the best of our animals - and which Wagyu to steer and feed at an early age.

As always, we will be happy to share the details of our creation as soon as it is completely worked out and seems reliable. Click Here to read more about our thinking and our development process on this important update.

Crucial Wagyu Breedplan Report Coming Imminently from Australia

Finally, the Australian Wagyu Association in conjunction with Breedplan will release within the month an analysis of the Wagyu breed in the form of a Group Breedplan (GBP). Over the past 6 months a considerable amount pedigree and performance data has been recorded, according to the Executive Officer of the Australian association, Michael Beattie.

A sire summary will be a part of the report, and “also included will be a suite of Economic Indices derived from the GBP analysis that have been developed specifically to target known endpoints in the Wagyu beef chain. It is envisaged that the use of such information will put necessary pressure on individual animal selection and lift the overall genetic gain across all traits in the breed.”

Currently on the Australian Wagyu Association website there is a “Mating Predictor” function that enables members to select sire/dam mating combinations and produce “phantom progeny” with an Inbreeding Coefficient. Beattie says that once the GBP results are published, mid-parent EPD information will also appear with the phantom progeny (potential offspring) – if both parents were analyzed and reported in the GBP analysis.

All Lone Mountain Wagyu are registered with the Australian Wagyu Association and all measurements, including ultrascan data, have been submitted to Breedplan – and thus will be analyzed as a part of the breed-wide report.

Salutation

We look forward to seeing all of you in Reno – Lone Mountain has 4 Fullblood Wagyu bulls entered into the Association’s Annual Sale – and then again here in the New Mexico Spring.

As always we wish you the best –
