Announcement:
Know any Community Heroes?

The form to nominate a Community Hero for 2009 is now available at www.unitedwaysc.org and can be submitted via email, fax or hard copy). The deadline for nominations is, July 10th, 2009.

The United Way's Community Assessment Project (CAP) has set 19 community goals to make Santa Cruz County residents safer, healthier and more politically involved. Now our non-profit wants to honor some of the people that are pushing the county forward.  These persons don't have to have fancy titles or big paychecks; they simply have to be doing some good in our community.

"It is so inspiring to celebrate the people who are making a positive difference in our county," said Mary Lou Goeke, Executive Director of United Way of Santa Cruz County.  "Community Goals are our collective aspirations for the future.  But Community Heroes are the people who make that future come true."

Selected Community Heroes will be recognized in the Community Assessment Project's annual report, which is distributed countywide.  The CAP focuses on six general areas:  economy, education, health, natural environment, public safety and social environment. Please see the website for a complete list of goals.
