2009-2010 Request for Mini-Grant Applications Network for a Healthy California - Central Coast Region
DEADLINE: MAY 25, 2009
The Nutrition & Fitness Collaborative of the Central Coast (NFCCC) is pleased to announce a Request for Applications (RFA) for mini grants that strive to realize the vision of the NFCCC that "all Central Coast residents practice healthy eating and physical activity in communities that value, support and promote these life-long behaviors." The California Department of Public Health has designated a portion of its Network for a Healthy California - Central Coast Region funds for initiatives to support the mission of the NFCCC. As administrative agent for these funds, the Collaborative is seeking applications from organizations, agencies, groups and individuals serving low-income (i.e. food stamp eligible) residents in Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito Counties. Funding requests may range from $1500 - $3,000, and multiple grants will be awarded. Funds must be spent and all projects/activities must be completed between October 1, 2009 and September 30, 2010.

A Must-See Film: Consuming Kids: The Commercialization of Childhood |
|
The Media Education Foundation has just released a new film called Consuming Kids: The Commercialization of Childhood. The film, which features CCFC staff and Steering Committee members, takes a powerful look at how corporations relentlessly target children and the impact of that marketing.
The film is a great organizing tool - the perfect way to raise awareness about the commercialization of childhood, connect with local parents and activists, and support the work of CCFC. That's why CCFC members all over the country are hosting screenings of Consuming Kids in their communities. To see if there's a screening near you, please click here.
