During shorter days and longer nights; Consider using light colored flowers to enjoy your flowers at night.  Whites, creams pale pinks and purple are lighter color and reflect light better than dark colored flowers.
Grey colored foliage plants will reflect the moonlight better and add to the  beauty of a night time garden.
Silvery and white foliage also is pleasing during the day. Plants with textured foliage appeal to the physical senses. Like Dusty Miller with its fuzzy foliage.
