MEETING SPONSOR - Legacy Care Home
Legacy Care Home has two residential care homes located in Minnetonka. Legacy is licensed as Assisted Living and Housing with services but provides a family style living environment for seniors that need 24 hour care due to cognitive loss or physical disability. Legacy can offer true aging in place. Our care level ranges from general supervision and redirection to end of life care. We work together with other providers to provide Hospice Care or restorative care such as PT/OT/ ST. We manage sliding scale insulin, wound care, tube feedings, behavior management and so much more. Our home is secured with a wander alarm system for those individuals needing a more secure environment. We provide the a 1:3 staffing ratio for majority of wake hours. This enables us to give client focused care.
PRESIDENT'S MONTHLY NOTE
As winter wanes and the New Year begins, it seems like an opportune time to update you about the "behind the scenes" workings of the MASWA Board and various committees. These volunteers are committed to see that the mission and vision of the organization is upheld. Where else for a mere $20 annual fee, can you receive a monthly newsletter, network with industry experts, hear speakers of the highest caliber (Walter Mondale, for cryin' out loud!), receive continuing education units, tour specialty facilities, stay informed about the latest legislative changes and sample delicious treats? Add to that the outstanding Spring and Fall Conferences and you have an association membership brimming with immense value!
All of these member benefits are made possible by people who, in addition to their full time jobs, find time to volunteer on behalf of MASWA. To all of you, I say Thank you!!
In addition, as members, we want you to know that your feedback is valuable. In part because you have vocalized your frustrations, a task force has been created to look at a revision of the website format. Our goal is to improve functionality and the "user friendliness" of the site, thus better serving the needs of the membership and its volunteers. For the time being, the PDF membership renewal document can be downloaded on the website and either mailed to MASWA, P.O. Box 26630, Minneapolis, MN 55426 or you can bring it to the next membership meeting on Thursday, February 23rd.
An unknown author said "Good Company on the road is the shortest cut". Good company can be found at MASWA - join us for 2012!
JOINT PUBLIC POLICY COMMITTEE
The next meeting of the Joint Public Policy Committee will be Tuesday, February 28, from 8:30 am until 10:00 am. The location is yet to be determined, but it will be added to the MASWA calendar as soon as possible.
The purpose of the Public Policy Committee is to bring information, insight and empowerment into the Minneapolis and St. Paul Senior Workers' Associations through organization, education, and research to ensure an informed public policy debate and decision-making process on behalf of our members and the senior population we serve.
For information, or to join the committee, contact Jonathan Lips at 952-715-1542 or by e-mail to [email protected].
