TOPIC: "Gray Matters" - What You Need to Know About
Aging and Depression
Presenter: Kay King, Program Director
National Alliance on Mental Illness Minnesota
Kay King is a family educator who teaches NAMI's Family to Family 12 week education course and also is the State Trainer for Family to Family class teachers. She is the former Executive Director of a retirement community in the Twin Cities that offers both independent and assisted living services and is a long-time volunteer with seniors.
Kay is a family member whose grandmother, mother, sister and niece lived/lives with a mental illness.
Program Objectives:
- Understanding the Impact of Mental Illness
- Recognizing the Signs and Symptoms of Depression
- Realizing the Risk Factors and Warning Signs of Depression and Suicide
- Exploring the Process of Recovery
