| PRESIDENT'S MONTHLY NOTE | |
Indeed, summer has arrived. Last week we enjoyed some of the longest days of the season, where in Minnesota, twilight lasts well into the evening. I say that presents a perfect opportunity to toss the kids into their P.J.'s and head to Dairy Queen for a bedtime snack!
Many of us serve individuals who are in their twilight years, and for the benefit of all, we continue to educate ourselves. Our June membership meeting was the first of two Joint Public Policy meetings held annually in concert with the St. Paul Senior Workers Association. We heard from speakers John Selstad, Minnesota Board on Aging and Jean Wood, Minnesota Board on Aging and Aging and Adult Services, MN Department of Human Services. John and Jean summarized the 2010 legislative session, offered a briefing on state health policy and changes related to the continuum of care for older people - long term services and supports (LTSS) and chronic care coordination. In addition, they offered insights on Health Reform changes to Medicare.
Whew, I'm ready for a Mr. Misty!
