MENTORING: What's All the Fuss About? Well, How could we encourage more business people to mentor and more businesses to benefit? Mark Prisk, Small Firms Minister sent me this question and I know that you'll have a view too. You can join the debate now, express your views, share your experiences here Mark Prisk MP said:-
"When talking to small businesses, many of them tell me that mentoring is often the most effective way of promoting more successful start ups and helping established business to develop and grow. BOOK REVIEW 1 -
WHACK around the head - Purpose Passion and Power at work right now! - By Sharon Eden, Full review here
 | Click Book for Review |
Try it for yourself!
"Be yourself. Everyone else is already taken" -Oscar Wilde, sets the scene for 'WHACK around the head' which could well have been titled 'HERE'S YOUR WAKE UP CALL!'
A warning! And a promise! Just by the title I sensed that 'WHACK around the head' had important learning to offer and I was not disappointed. This is a tool for change, a journey to self-growth, to discover or rediscover your Purpose, Passion and Power, Sharon's mantra for you - see how it works! Though expect to be told quite bluntly some 'home truths' in the process. And don't blame me if your new 'Outtayerbox You' is a bit of a handful! back to top...

"A four day week and then three days' fun". Prime Minister Winston Churchill's 1953 prophesy, ambition and hope for British workers, without any drop in income, has not been achieved. Part of the reason now may well be self-inflicted and threatens work-life balance! back to top...

SERENDIPITY AS PAST & FUTURE UNITES TWO FEMALE PRESIDENTS
Serendipity? After being on panel at 'What Else Can I Do?' I received several phone calls asking for business support but the link also made that I was the second female President of Nottingham City Business Club. You may not think there's anything amazing in that but since the club started in 1915, women were only admitted to membership after 1989, and I was elected in 1997, there's more to this than meets the eye. Happily there's a female President this year, Deborah Labatte and I'm thinking about what to tell her for her book on the history of NCBC. Recommended! Check out NCBC now.
