LIMITED OPPORTUNITY - PERSONAL ENDEAVOUR & ADVENTURE
Polar Explorers Mike & Fiona Thornewill |
Polar explorers Mike and Fiona Thornewill now have just one place for their North Pole Last Degree Expedition in April 2011. This serious Arctic expedition in international waters aims to make a surface crossing of the Arctic Ocean between latitude 89N and the Geographic North Pole at 90N. This is known as: 'The Last Degree' - a foot journey of 60 nautical miles (approximately 70 statute miles). It is an exclusive and exciting undertaking - one that commands great respect. Ten times as many people have stood on the summit of Mount Everest as have walked to the Geographic North Pole. Sometimes it can be very challenging - and success is not a given thing. The expedition leaves England at the beginning of More here back to top.... |
CONGRATULATIONS! LAURA GREENMAN LAUNCHES MAGNETIC NORTH TRAVEL
LAURA was awarded an entrepreneurship grant last year to help push forward with Ecoescape sustainable holiday packages to give people the best lodging, activities and food that the industry could offer but in a way that would save customers time in tracking it down. Laura's grand plan got grander ( www.ecoescape.org), a new collaboration led to the setting up of her tour operation, Magnetic North Travel.
Through travelling to Scandanavia last year on honeymoon and being introduced to the Norwegian eco-philosophy of 'Friluftsliv' by her co-founder, this finally brought everything together. Friluftsliv is about developing knowledge and enjoyment in nature. On an individual level, it's key to helping people to value the outside as an antidote to some of life's modern demands. Holidays include hands-on activities like wild food foraging and fishing, crafts, walking, kayaking and snow-shoeing. Lodgings are owned by families and individuals, and managed with care for nature and people.Magnetic North Travel back to top... |

BOOK REVEW - MY FIRE'S GONE OUT! How to Cope with Change in Your Work and Your Life by Liam O'Connell
This modern parable is brilliant and I love it! Looking for a short read during lunch I picked up My Fire's Gone Out! and finished it in half an hour.
Click book for review |
Liam O'Connell uses 'fire' as a metaphor for setting a new focus on what is really important to you, in your life and your work so that you can handle change in whatever guise it presents to you.
Through the device of four aptly named little devils, (read the book..) stoking the fires of hell, the story tells how differently each reacts when sudden and dramatic change interrupts the normal flow of their lives.
Coaches and others will recognise what is happening here but there's great value to be had from sharing this book as a tool to get some key messages across to other people.
Condenses the spirit of self-belief and reinforces in 81 enjoyable pages the timeless truth that with change comes opportunity, provided you take a little time to think,
spot it and confidently work it through! Inspirational and Motivational. Peppered with common sense and realism. A refreshingly light treatment of a sometimes all too heavy topic! (More please!) Read my review back to top... |
