This is one of Nikki Sharpe's many major achievements, another step towards her vision, created with support and coaching from Valerie Dwyer. We caught up with Nikki and asked:-

How does it feel to win the award Nikki: It feels amazing overwhelming - my feet have not touched the ground - im up there with the stars.. my dreams have come true for me and youth can achieve and now I can deliver to all the young people who deserve a bright future and are too stars in the making.

What led you to this point in life Nikki: My own personal experiences have led me to where I am today; from personal adversity I have followed a journey, a path an upward battle to where I am but now... hopefully im freewheeling downhill

What next? Ambitions Nikki: To deliver as much as I can to the youth can achieve participants - to make yca so successful it is recognised nationally/internationally not only for delivery aspiration, and programmes./workshops but also as a policy forum and thinking tank to link into legislation around child poverty and every child matter issues.

TOURISM AWARDS - 2010 Enjoy England Excellence Awards Closes 4 June 2010
East Midlands Tourism, emda's tourism arm, has launched the 2010 Enjoy England Excellence Awards celebrating those tourism businesses that go the extra mile to provide guests with an exceptional experience. From 29 March businesses can apply to be voted the region's best in a number of categories. There are 17 awards to be won including Guest Accommodation, Large Visitor Attraction, Think Family, Access for All and Outstanding Customer Service. Businesses wishing to enter the awards should contact their local Destination Management Partnership or go to East Midlands Tourism for an application form. In order to make applying as easy as possible, East Midlands Tourism has also produced a guide to help businesses through the application process. INITIATIVES - ONLINE & WEB Get Your FREE Business Website Create a Website for your business in 20 minutes, for free at Get British Businesses Online
Google and partners including BT, Enterprise UK, e-skills UK, PayPal and The Institute of Directors have set-up an ambitious initiative to get 100,000 businesses online with a free website by the end of 2010.
As part of the Getting British Business Online (GBBO) initiatives, businesses can access a new tool to create their first website in around 15 minutes. They will also be given a free web address and their website will be included in Google's search index and listed in Google Maps.
Businesses will also be shown the tools with which to promote their new websites. BT will offer businesses free advice and phone support to help them create an effective online presence, and shortly PayPal will enable businesses with a GBBO-powered website to turn their site into an e-commerce platform to begin selling to customers and accepting payments in just a few clicks. Additionally, e-skills UK has developed the information technology qualification (ITQ) for Doing Business Online qualification which will use the Google suite of tools to allow businesses to develop the skills and confidence necessary to get online.
