Latest News & Opportunities Update
August 2009
A
Greetings!

Valerie Dwyer, Serial Entrepreneur, Coach, Mentor, Author, Speaker, Founder My Wonderful Life Coach (tm) WOW! What a summer we've all been having! And now - Are you preparing to make the rest of your year even better than ever? You know, September is the most popular month for gearing up a level, for businesses and individuals. Make sure that you're a front runner. Business is out there, so innovate, plan, shout about what you're doing and press on determinedly. We've already heard from two women entrepreneurs who are launching their 2nd and 3rd businesses ...news to follow.... I've  met up with many interesting people so have some wonderful book reviews lined up for you - and special offers - over the next couple of weeks.
Attended a Royal Garden Party with one of my daughters (another serial entrepreneur - is it in the genes?).  We experienced the storm to top all storms in the beautiful gardens of Buckingham Palace - ended up sheltering inside, bedraggled, laughing at our drenching, the torrent, thunder and lighting. It was still a fabulous day! I am told there were 6,000 of us but cannot confirm it!
Recently diagnosed with Osteoporosis (on top of my other exciting and unfathomable conditions that keep me on my toes and look set, so one of my consultants says, to ensure me a place in Case Study history!). You've heard by now that I was elected a Fellow of the RSA - the Royal Institute of Arts, Commerce and Manufactures. Thanks for all the kind words from everyone who emailed. All out of the blue! But whatever happens, you know it really is such a Wonderful Life. Every new day is filled with uncertainties but also opportunities to enjoy. Always look on the bright side? It's all a matter of personal choice.
Businesswise? Despite a broken wrist earlier this year we've been busier than ever and passed all trading records!! Being determined to defy obstacles does pay off! Now geared up for an even busier Autumn...Are you getting ready for it?
We've lots more news updates plus opportunities below so you may want to come back and revisit...   Your thoughts are always welcome and Valerie's here to help. Need a one to one into developing your business potential? Just email to discuss...

BOOK REVIEW In for a Penny - A Business Adventure by Peter Hargreaves - Harriman House
In for a Penny says 'Plain speaking has never held Peter Hargreaves back'. It's true, now a multi-millionaire, Peter built his investment company Hargreaves Lansdown with Stephen Lansdown, in the most savvy, practical and cost-effective ways possible and was never afraid to ask for what he wanted, especially if it did not already exist! He may have cut a few corners, but innovation is a key theme throughout this business career, revealed warts and all. The bonus is an insight into investment products but will not, however, teach you how to invest. The real lesson for us all is in the first two pages of Chapter 1 - how important it is to be exposed to entrepreneurship at an early age, that's when we absorb it without even knowing. Creating Brand Value from My Business, EMA, 26 August 09
FREE event to offer help and advice to businesses who want to know more about trade marks and the value in registering them. Identifying these assets and realising their value can make an impact on the medium to long term success of most businesses.  Every business has some form of Intellectual Property that it uses to distinguish itself from its competitors. Whether it is their trading name, a logo or a brand - all businesses need to be aware of the value and importance of their intellectual assets as well as the risks of not registering them as trade marks, to prevent others using them at anytime, anywhere, anyhow.
This event will provide a seminar, networking opportunities, expert advice and support, along with industry professionals who will be on hand to offer guidance on individual questions during the day.Additional support will be available on the day from Business Link and the professional body for trade marks - ITMA.  The other forms of intellectual property (Patents, Copyright, Design) will also be explored in summary.
