When did you last celebrate even your simplest achievement? BOARD LEVEL OPPORTUNITIES - Independent Advisor for Criminality Information Management D/line 29 April 2009. Sharing information across agencies involved in protecting our communities is vital to keeping the public safe. The Government is committed to ensuring these arrangements work effectively. The new Independent Advisor for Criminality Information will advise Government Ministers on where the most significant blockages lie, how they might be addressed and how to make best use of existing and emerging opportunities to improve use of information in support of public protection. This new, important role requires someone with strong interpersonal skills andability to communicate effectively at the highest levels, with sound judgement and clarity of vision. They will need to be able to assimilate and analyse complex information quickly.

I was delighted to join colleagues and guests for this high powered event hosted in London by the Canadian High Commission. A truly international networking event, it was useful to hear of developments on the global women's enterprise agenda from a range of speakers. Having taken part in a Study Tour of Women's Enterprise in the US, I especially enjoyed a 'catch up' with Sharon O'Donoghue, Executive Director of the Business Ownership Initiative of Indiana and current Chair of the US Women's Business Centers. We discussed virtual and trading opportunities so will keep in touch on a regular basis - watch this space! LAUNCHES - ARTISTS AND MAKERS NETWORK, 28 April 2009, Derby
An exciting new initiative for all artists and makers in the Derby & Nottingham area is to be launched on Tuesday,28th April at 6:30 pm at DĚDA (Derby Dance Centre) on Chapel Street in the city - a new representative and lobbying organisation of professionals in the visual arts. Local artists Saira Lloyd and David Manley are behind the event. David says "although there are an increasing number of active groups in and around the area, most of whom it is hoped will be present, there is currently no one organisation representing the interests of all". Everyone with an interest in creating a strong, representative voice for artists and makers, those who create the art works on which the visual arts depend, are invited along to this free event.
