| Using PASSUR Pulse for Concession Management |
|
We've frequently written here about some of the more obvious uses for PASSUR Pulse, but there is a lot more that you can do to maximize your usage of the system above and beyond the basics. This month, we're touching on how PASSUR Pulse can help you manage your concession businesses.
Think about it. PASSUR Pulse provides you with a database of all your flights with seat counts, times, and locations. With this information, you can build an accurate model of your passenger flows through the airport all day long, seven days a week, 365 days a year. This information is invaluable.
With this data, you can determine when the heaviest passenger flows will be and where there might be a need for more concessions. Track passenger movements and you'll be able to align your concession program to match demand.
Concessionaires can use this information as well. They will be able to build their staffing schedules based on busier times. Better staffing alignment means more successful concessions. And that is good news for your airport.

| Year End Summary: How to Become a PASSUR Pulse Power User |
|
Throughout this year, we've offered tips and tricks on a variety of different ways you can make sure you're using PASSUR Pulse to its full potential. Now that 2010 is just a few days away, we though it would be a good time to look back and review some of these "power uses" of PASSUR Pulse.
- Aircraft Weight Measurements - There's a good chance that the weights you're using to calculate landing fees are not completely accurate. Airlines operate aircraft in a variety of different weight configurations, and PASSUR Pulse can give you exact info down to the tail number.
- Revenue Forecasting - It's easy to get caught up in using the landing fee management program in "backwards-looking" mode, for audit and billing purposes; but the same set of tools can also be used as a planning solution, to help estimate your revenues more accurately based on historical scenarios and detailed trendlines.
- Manage Gate Resources - PASSUR Pulse can also be an operational tool. You can review gate usage, and more adequately assign gate resources, with the activity statistics available from Pulse reports.
- Billing for Diversions - It is too easy for diversions to fall through the cracks, especially if they're from an airline that doesn't regularly serve your airport. Using PASSUR Pulse, you can make sure that every flight is captured, including diversions.
It's been a great year working with our partners in the airport finance and planning community, and we look forward to 2010. If you would like to learn more about becoming a PASSUR Pulse power user, please contact Evan Danto at evan.j.danto@passur.com. |
