A Message from the President
For the last fifteen years, ESFI has been a leading advocate of electrical safety in the home and the workplace.
This past year, ESFI and the U.S. utility industry partnered together to better understand the problem of utility copper theft in the United States. As a result of this ongoing partnership, we are pleased to present the 2008 Copper Theft Baseline Survey of Utilities.
On behalf of ESFI, I would like to thank APPA, NRECA, and EEI for their efforts in the development and distribution of this first-of-its-kind survey, which will serve as a powerful baseline instrument for future measurement and trend analysis.
Thank you, Brett Brenner
President, Electrical Safety Foundation International |

ESFI National Utility Copper Theft Survey Results Now Available
ESFI has released the results its 2008 Copper Theft Baseline Survey of Utilities, an innovative instrument developed to measure the frequency and impact of copper wire theft and how it is being addressed by major utility stakeholders across the country.
ESFI worked closely with the Edison Electrical Institute, the National Rural Electrical Cooperative Association, and the American Public Power Association to create a confidential survey that would extract detailed information from shareholders and community-owned utility members about their first-hand experience with this growing problem.
