There are many ways to join the Social Media revolution and use Twitter, Linked-In, Facebook etc to help with SEO and become an expert and draw more attention to yourself and your company.
An increasingly popular way to do this is to answer questions on the various sites that encourage these kinds of interactions:
Linked-In and Yahoo Answers are 2 very popular portals for this kind of dialogue.
Above is a link to an actual question on Yahoo Answers with a response which of course is an advertisement for an answering service.
Did this result in business? Hard to tell
Did it increase their SEO standing? Hard to tell
OK then why do it?
Excellent question
The internet as we know has no "off" button and what is there is there for eternity.
So, anyone else that might have this same question might search for the question to see if anyone provided any answers to it instead of reposting the same question.
As of this publication date there is only 1 answer which gives that person or company an instant advantage.
Another way to increase your "expertise quotient" is to respond to blog posts.
Above is a blog post about solutions available to the modern day medical practice.
A quick excerpt is:
"Or you could lose the 20th Century mentality that every physician office needs an answering service."
This blog is advocating for doing away with answering services all together.
There are 3 responses from: Margo Weiss of Cosmomed ; Dr Wenner of Primetime Medical Software ; Terrell Edwards of PerfectServe. All 3 pitch their solution for medical practices.
Will this result in business? Very hard to tell.
So many questions - so little time - and so little tracking. Why do it at all?
Social media - answering questions are part of a strategy, but not the end all be all.
Just as you cannot rely solely on sending 500 mailings a week or taking out yellow page ads in 500 directories and waiting for the phone to ring, everyone must utilize a multi-prong attack to drive new prospects into the funnel.
