Marketing Mistakes:
There is no need to repeat mistakes that have already been made by others.
Here are just a few mistakes people make in marketing:
1.Not doing any market research.
Even just calling existing client base and asking a few questions like What service / solution do you use that makes you more efficient? What need did we fill or problem did we solve when we started working with you? What do you like most about working with us? These are fairly simple questions and the answers will also help you refine your message to this target audience. 2. One and done: Marketing research done. Mailing list bought and scrubbed Postcard - Brochures Mailed Now all we have do is wait for the phone to ring <insert sound of crickets here> Marketing is an ongoing progress ... and once is never enough. Mail, Follow up, Follow up, Follow up, Repeat 3.They said no they are not interested / happy with their current vendor or just made a change to a new vendor, so I guess that's that. Once someone is in the sales loop they should really never get out of that loop. Certainly don't send someone who has just changed vendors a mailing every week or an e-mail every month, but they should still get something from you maybe 2X's a year. If you want to stay on the mind of a client put them on your Christmas card list, or other holiday card so your card doesn't get lost in the shuffle and makes a more memorable impression.
Keeping in contact with prospects that said no will make sure that if / when they begin another search for a vendor you are high on their list.
