Jan. 23 - American Red Cross First Aid NYS OCFS Regulations for all modalities now require that every program have a person certified in CPR and First Aid on site at all times. As per the American Red Cross, effective Jan. 1, 2011 certification is valid for 2 years for First Aid courses. Read on / Register

Apr. 11 - Helping Children Cope with Traumatic Events
Earthquakes, hurricanes and flooding are just a few of the traumatic events children have recently experienced and which may have affected them. We will define Traumatic Stress Disorder, look at our responsibility for helping children cope, and introduce literature based activities to help them deal with the aftermath.

Jun. 6 - Affirming Culture in Our Program NAEYC recommendations emphasize that early childhood programs are responsible for creating a welcoming environment that respects diversity. However, promoting an acceptance of diversity is more than having diverse materials in our classroom. This workshop, that will define important terms, reflects on child development as it relates to a child's understanding of differences and ways to ensure that families and children feel a part of the program in terms of the environment and activities provided.
