Hi!

It's almost Thanksgiving which is one of my favorite holidays of the year. I love it because it gives ALL Americans to come together in peace, harmony and of course good food, regardless of ethinicity or religion--how great is that! So I wish you a very happy Thanksgiving. Don't forget to continue to be healthy through this holiday, but it's FINE to indulge a little in the treats of the season...what are your favorites? Send me an email or post on my Facebook to let me know!

Ask Dr. Susan
QUESTION:
Dear Dr. Susan,
I haven't been able to lose weight by dieting, so I'm thinking of cutting down on meals. Is this a good idea?

ANSWER:
I'm sorry to hear that you haven't been successful so far! However, cutting down on meals is NOT a good or healthy way to lose weight! Instead, consider the following questions:

1. Has your doctor told you that you need to lose weight. When you are within a healthy range, it is much more difficult to lose, which is your body's way of telling you to stop trying!

2. Are you exercising? Often this is necesary to achieve the weight loss goal that is right for you, so get moving a little at a time!

3. Are you eating healthily. If you are restricting calories, but not eating enough protein or fat, your body may rebel by holding onto every pound and calorie you consume, beacause it feels like you are starving yourself. You MUST eat a healthy, balanced diet, if you're not sure how to do this, then speak to your doctor, or take a look at Dr. Susan's Girls-Only Weight Loss Guide for some healthy guidelines.
