Halloween Happiness! |
Halloween is about the cool, fun and scary costumes...but it's mostly about the CANDY! (I'm a chocaholic, so that's what I sneak from everyone's Halloween bags--when they're not looking!) But, although candy is delish, it's important to enjoy it without overdoing it, so here are some tips--follow them and you will have fun and still be healthy!
- Don't completely deprive yourself of candy, because then you're sure to eat too much when your will-power eventually wears off (which it will, I promise!)
- Trick or treating is exercise--go for it! Just do it the right way: don't eat candy while you're walking around (you will lose track of how much you're eating and also you need to check it for safety reasons before eating it--don't ever eat unwrapped candy).
- When you get back from trick or treating immediately get rid of the candy you don't absolutely love (give it to a friend, sibling or your dentist's Halloween candy 'buy-back'. Don't trade for different candy--just donate it!
- Make a plan for how you will enjoy your candy: eat one or two SMALL pieces a day (mini chocolates, or one piece of any other kind--not a whole bag or a big bar). The candy should be a substitute for a regular 'junk food' snack, not an additional one.
- Don't eat candy when you're hungry--you're more likely to eat too much.
Have a very happy AND healthy Halloween! Your body will thank you! |
