The Howletts: 

A Galena Love Story

In the 1930s two artists, James and Carolyn Howlett, began a lifelong love story with each other and with Galena.  Their legacy is an exceptional collection of original paintings done over the course of three decades.

 The Howletts bequeathed their art collections to the Illinois Art Education Association (IAEA) with instructions that proceeds from their sale benefit Illinois art educators. Howlett wedding 1935
 
Executors of the Howlett estate asked Marsha Rinetti, BRIO Art Gallery, and Larry Wiedenheft, President of the Galena-Jo Daviess County Historical Society, to represent the Galena collection. The Howlett exhibition will open on October 17.
