What started as a routine work day ended in the hospital - as an above knee amputee - for Officer Ryan Nagy.
A routine traffic stop for speeding turned into a life altering event. As Officer Nagy was walking to the stopped vehicle, an out of control pick up truck crossed three lanes, plowed into the cruiser and pinned him between it and the stopped vehicle.
We were called in to begin the design, fabrication and fitting of Officer Nagy's prosthesis. David Garcia, LP, fit Officer Nagy with a modified double wall suction sockey, computer controlled knee/foot system that enabled him to pass his field training exam and return to his full time position at
Middleburg Heights Police Department.
With a positional lower leg rotator, Officer Nagy was able to complete training for the Southwest Enforcement Bureau's emergency resonse team, a sniper team that responds to hostage situations.
We are constantly seeking new and innovative engineering and socket designs to incoporate into the design of Officer Nagy's prosthesis.
It is commonplace for many of our highly innovative fittings, design techniques and experiences with other patients to benefit our less active lower extremity amputees with their needs and activities of daily living.
