Spare Seat Kayak Tour Kicks Off Today!
Renowned British kayakers Glenn Charles and Richard Harpham got a taste of New York's waters yesterday at Niagara Falls. Today, they kick off their 500-mile Spare Seat Kayak Adventure from Buffalo to NYC!
The team will be traversing the Erie Canal through May 15, when they will enter the Hudson River and paddle to the Statue of Liberty. The project will be photographed and filmed, and hosted on a dedicated website with social media feeds to promote travel to New York's waterways. Paddle alongside Richard and Glen in your own canoe or kayak or ride your bike on the Erie Canalway Trail to follow part of the journey.
I LOVE NEW YORK is organizing Spare Seat, in cooperation with the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor, NYS Canal Corp, Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area, and regional tourism promotion agencies. |
