Tour Erie Canalway Heritage Award-winning sites and learn directly from the people who make them great. The Heritage Showcase is a half-day site visit and workshop in which participants will tour the site, meet key stakeholders, hear about obstacles overcome, and investigate specific strategies for success.
May 2, 2012, 1-5 pm, Village of Brockport Find out how the Village of Brockport drew on its canal heritage to get community leaders, civic groups, local businesses, and historic sites pulling in the same direction to make the village a more attractive home, workplace, and destination for travelers. The village received the Erie Canalway Heritage Award of Excellence in 2009 for its community-wide efforts.

Cycling the Erie Canal Guide Book

The latest edition of Cycling the Erie Canal: A guide to 400 miles of adventure and history along the Erie Canalway Trail is hot off the press and we can't recommend it highly enough.
The 144-page guidebook is a key resource for cyclists planning to bike the entire 400-mile route, as well as for riders looking to enjoy an afternoon of fun. The maps, attractions, and amenities are also great for visiting by car, boat, or on foot.
The guide is published by Parks & Trails New York (PTNY), with funding support from the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor, New York State Canal Corporation, and others.

Canal Clean Sweep, April 20-22 Volunteer dedication at the heart of event's success  Get ready for the 188th navigation season by sprucing up the canal in your neck of the woods during Canal Clean Sweep.
An impressive variety of clean-ups are planned all along the New York State Canal System. Last year nearly 100 groups throughout the Canal Corridor, including municipalities, not-for-profit organizations, civic groups, and businesses, engaged in clean up and beautification activities.

The Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor, established in 2000 by an Act of Congress, spans 524 miles across the full expanse of upstate New York. It includes the Erie, Cayuga-Seneca, Oswego, and Champlain canals and their historic alignments. The Corridor encompasses 4,834 square miles in 23 counties and is home to 2.7 million people. |
