Heritage Award of Excellence
Expands to Two Year Program

Workshops, peer networking to be offered in 2012
Beginning in 2012, the Erie Canalway Heritage Award will be offered biennially, rather than annually. We're making the change in order to better share best practices and lessons learned at award-winning sites with people working at similar sites and projects. The expanded program will offer peer networking opportunities for people working directly on heritage development and preservation projects.

The Heritage Award will be given out again in 2013. Watch for details in the coming months as we shape our 2012 program.
A Visit to Washington, D.C.
Briefings provide opportunity for dialog 2012 Annual Report
Commission Chair Judy Schmidt-Dean and Executive Director Beth Sciumeca are in Washington, DC this week to brief the Corridor's congressional delegation about significant advances and accomplishments in the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor.

The annual meetings provide an invaluable opportunity to emphasize how public-private partnerships are helping to preserve the Corridor's extraordinary heritage, while stimulating community revitalization.

Erie Canalway's 2012 Annual Report will provide a springboard for conversations with congressional representatives. The report highlights a variety of initiatives that are contributing to a 21st Century vision for New York's canals as a foundational part of our past and a dynamic part of our future.
