New Visitor Center Opens in Fulton
Center to orient visitors to attractions along the Oswego Canal
Visitors to the Oswego Canal in Fulton will have an easier time finding area attractions, walking and driving tours, restaurants, and lodging, thanks to a new visitor information center, which celebrated its local opening on May 6. It will be completely operational for out-of-town visitors on June 1.
"Every site can become a gateway to the entire National Heritage Corridor. The Oswego Canal Information Center will become another open door," said Erie Canalway Commission Vice Chairman Russ Andrews, during the opening celebration.
The center is located in the lobby of the city hall annex, just a short walk from Locks 2 and 3. The historic 1863 Pratt House and 1906 Carnegie Library are located in the same block, all overlooking the canal.
A dedicated group of volunteers has been hard at work planning and opening the center. Be sure to stop by when in Fulton!
Operating hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30 am to noon, 1 pm to 4:30 pm
Location: City Hall Annex Lobby, 149 South First St., Fulton, NY

Israeli Media Visit Erie Canal
Familiarization tour offers first-hand canal experience
A whirlwind tour of the Erie Canal took place last week as members of several top Israeli media outlets, tour operators, and travel agents dashed from Albany to Rochester. The goal of the tour was not for the group to relax, but rather to become familiar with the exciting and unexpected experiences found along the Erie Canal. Upon their return to Israel, they will be promoting the canal as a tourist destination.
The tour was organized by I Love NY and Kay Tours, with assistance from various partners, including, Canal New York, New York State Canal Corporation, Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor, and on-site hosts.
