Dear SOM Friends, Students & Alumni,
Thank you for a great Ministry Conference and Landregan Lecture!
Thank you so much for your support of our ministry conference and annual Landregan Lecture. Both were a great success thanks to the support of our students, alumni, and friends!
The conference saw attendance of over 5,000 faithful from North Texas and surrounding areas, a 10% increase from last year's conference. The sessions were well attended, especially the Spanish sessions which exceeded capacity in almost every instance. The volunteer corp, headed up by Cyndi Freeman and Cindy Worth, helped make the conference run more smoothly, and the liturgical art displays, exhibitors, and musicians added to the overall conference experience. The Family Place Mosaic Project was a favorite among many attendees. The media gallery is now available, including photos and video of Cardinal DiNardo's keynote address. Check it out here!
The Landregan Lecture had over 140 people in attendance for the lecture and presentation of the distinguished alumni awards. See photos from the event here. We are happy to announce that Ms. Tena Allain was awarded the Dei Verbum award, while Deacon Arnold Picon was presented the Lumen Gentium award. Both were very deserving of these honors. Read more here.
The "Landregan Lecture Series: 1999-2008" commemaritve book is also now available. Find out below how you can make a contribution to the Landregan Lecture Series Fund and receive one of these books, which has several of the first speeches in their entirety, as a thank you. Don't forget that you can register for Module 2 of the Catholic Biblical School until November 29, 2010. The module is the 2nd ten-week segment of the school year and is open for anyone to join! Find out more information here. As Thanksgiving approaches, we are grateful for all of you and your support of our school and programs. May God bless you and your family this Thanksgiving! Two SOM Alumni Receive Awards
|
On November 6 at the annual Landregan Lecture, the University of Dallas School of Ministry presented the Dei Verbum and Lumen Gentium Distinguished Alumni Awards. These awards, which are presented annually, acknowledge two graduates of the School of Ministry whose established records of outstanding accomplishment reflect the fruit of "theological education for transformative service." In particular, these awards honor graduates who have given exemplary service to the local church in general, the work of faith formation in particular, and the larger community, especially the poor and needy. The Dei Verbum Award annually honors a graduate of the Catholic Biblical School, while the Lumen Gentium Award is presented each year to an alumnus of the School of Ministry graduate program. This year, the School of Ministry was proud to honor Ms. Tena Allain and Deacon Arnold Picon, respectively. Read more about the recipients here.

"Landregan Lecture Series: 1999-2008"
|
This book features a history of the first ten speeches of the Landregan Lecture Series. Several of the lectures are included in their entirety in the book. As Dr. Marti Jewell explains in the introduction of the book, "All the presenters have left a legacy of challenge, invitation, scholarship and enjoyment for those who have participated in the series. We celebrate and honor their work and the contributions made by Steve Landregan to the church in North Texas by publication of this book." The book, which is dedicated to Steve Landregan, will be presented to Mr. Landregan at this evening's lecture.
The Landregan Lecture Series began more than ten years ago when Dallas deacons and others made substantial contributions to establish the fund.
If you would like to contribute to the continued success of the Landregan Lecture, we would welcome your support. Gifts of any size are welcome, and make a difference. Those who give $50 or more will receive a copy of the limited edition book as a thank you. (while supplies last). Simply contact ministryevents@udallas.edu to find out how to donate and receive your gift!
