New websites debut
As a result of time and resource grants from the Communications Department, several communities have launched websites:
These websites continue to expand as each community lives into this online ministry.

Videos featuring bishop-elect Brian N. Prior to be available in January
In early January, two new videos will be available as background information on the election and consecration of the Rev. Brian Prior as IX Bishop of Minnesota. The first will be a brief profile of Rev. Prior and his ministry over the years. The second will be more topical. Each will be 7-8 minutes in length and available on the diocesan website as well as on DVD by special request. These are perfect for viewing and discussing in adult forums, youth groups, and other Christian education formats. Please contact Wendy Johnson, 612-870-3303, wendy.j@episcopalmn.org, if you would like a DVD.

Consecration video will be available following event
A short video featuring highlights of the Ordination and consecration of the IX Bishop of Minnesota will be produced and available for viewing by the Wednesday following the event. A DVD will also be available by special request. Please contact Wendy Johnson, 612-870-3303, wendy.j@episcopalmn.org, if you would like a DVD.

New directories available online
The diocesan directories have been updated on the diocesan website. Previously, these documents have been printed, bound and distributed. However, they are now available primarily online with a very limited number available as print-outs.

Los Angeles women bishops' election create 'bit of a wave'
[Episcopal News Service] Los Angeles diocesan Bishop Jon Bruno's Dec. 5 acknowledgement that the weekend elections of two women suffragan bishops could create "a bit of a wave" across the Episcopal Church and the Anglican Communion, may have been an understatement. Read the full article.

Presiding Bishop's Christmas Message 2009
"The mornings are dark, pitch black until after most of us have begun our days. The hints of dawn in the eastern sky, those streaks of rose and pink that promise more and brighter light, bring hope even in the dark mid-winter. Where do you look for that kind of hope borne on slim rays of light?" Read the full article.

Youth and Young Adults
Young Adult Service Corps (YASC)
A little known resource of the Episcopal Church is the Young Adult Service Corps (YASC). Each year a dozen or so young adults are sent out across the globe to partner with dioceses of the Anglican Communion. They spend a year in service and as mission partners in effecting the gospel mandate 'on the ground.' This program, which is open to those aged 21-30, is intended to bring young adults into the life of the Anglican Communion and into the daily work of a particular community. The application process begins with a four-day discernment weekend (February 4 to February 7, 2010) held at an Episcopal conference center in Florida. All costs for travel, accommodation and meals are covered (i.e. it's free!). The application deadline is Monday, January 4, 2010. For more information, and for application materials, click here.
