IX Bishop Search
|
|
How the petition process works submitted by Scott Crow, Chair, Standing Committee In early August the Search Committee announced the names of three finalists for the IX Bishop of the Diocese of Minnesota. At that time a two week period began during which petition nominees could be put forward. The petition process is standard procedure for diocesan bishop elections with the particular requirements for our process approved at Diocesan Convention last year. Standing Committee is now in the process of conducting background checks on petition nominees. Satisfactory background checks are required of all candidates, whether nominated through petition or the Search Committee process. Upon completion of the background checks, the names of petition nominees will be announced. This is anticipated to occur within the next week. Petition and Search Candidates will all participate together in the Walkabouts, to be held around the state October 19 to 23.
Submit questions for Walkabouts now The Walkabout Committee invites questions from all people with an interest in the
Episcopal Church in Minnesota. Guidelines for questions are available on
the Search Committee blog, www.mnbishopsearchepiscopal.wordpress.com.
Questions must be submitted through the blog, by email to The Reverend Michele Morgan at revmichelemorgan@gmail.com, or by postal mail to 3154 Ulysses St. NE Minneapolis MN 55418.
There will also be an opportunity to submit written questions just
prior to each meeting. Questions will be accepted until Thursday October 15 at 5 pm.

Healing of Memories workshop Returning veterans often find life at home has changed while they were away, and
they've changed, too. Many veterans find roadblocks to talking about their experiences with those
who haven't shared them. The Warrior to Citizen Campaign, a grassroots effort to support Minnesota's returning
veterans, is coordinating a fall workshop exclusively for veterans that provides safe
space and confidentiality where their stories can be told and acknowledged. The weekend-long residential workshop will be held from October 23-25 at the Benedictine Retreat and Conference Center in St. Paul, MN. There are places for 20 veterans. Click here for more information about the workshop or to donate toward registration scholarships.

H1N1
|

Questions about flu protocol The Episcopal Center has received several calls and emails about protocol for churches and the H1N1 virus. At their meeting last week Diocesan Council appointed a Task Force to consider recommendations on possible procedures for MN congregations. In the meantime, there are several helpful articles and links to H1N1 resources on the diocesan website. (Editor's note: Two of my three children had H1N1 this past week. According to their doctor, the best protocol for handling H1N1 or any other virus: if you feel sick, or if you suspect you might be getting sick, stay home.)
