Kidney transplant fundraiser The Rev. Melanie Spears received a kidney transplant on July 14. Although the transplant is covered by health insurance, there are many incidental living expenses that are not covered. A fundraiser is being held for Rev. Spears at Tillie's Bean on Saturday, September 12 from 7-9. The address and ticket prices can be found on the diocesan website.
A survival guide to the adolescent brain David Walsh, Ph.D. is one of the world's leading authorities on parenting and the impact of media on children's health and development. On September 30 at 6:30 he will present at St. John the Evangelist, St. Paul. A donation of $5 is suggested. For more information visit St. John the Evangelist's website.
Garden fundraiser for the UEC Come and
hear how God is at work at the U of M. The University Episcopal Community invites you to a garden party fundraiser on Sunday, September 20th at 2:30 pm in the
garden at Grace Lutheran Church. Invite a
friend or three to come along! There will be an free will offering in support of UEC programs

A Day of Healing with the Rev. Matt Linn, SJ
The St. Croix Valley Chapter of the Order of St. Luke (OSL) is sponsoring two upcoming events at Ascension Episcopal Church, Stillwater. On Friday, October 2 the Rev. Matt Linn, a Jesuit priest, will lead an evening session for those in healing ministries and on Saturday, October 3 he will lead an all-day session open to the public that includes topics such as healing our image of God, forgiveness and prayer. The White Earth Reservation congregations submitted by the Rev. Lisa White Smith "The White Earth
Reservation spans 1,300 square miles of prairie, woods, and lakes in
northwestern Minnesota. It is the home of the White Earth Ojibwa Nation,
consisting of three counties which are among the economically poorest in the

Register now for September clergy conference
The
Continuing Education committee is pleased to offer registration for
Clergy Conference, Fall 2009. You can register either online or by downloading the registration form and mailing it to the Episcopal Center. This year, the Rev. Will Thompson,
MSW, MDiv, will be at clergy conference working with clergy to let loose
of unfulfilled expectations and anxiety in order to move into the new
episcopacy with open hearts and minds. Will is a licensed
clinical social worker and priest with over 28 years of experience as a
therapist, priest, and coach. Registration includes
program expenses and meals. When you register, you will be given
several lodging options. If you would prefer to stay in a hotel, we
