Presiding Bishop's Visit to Minnesota: Worship and Eucharist

Honoring this historic visit from the Presiding Bishop, the Faribault Cathedral will throw open its doors to all Minnesotans with a lively worship and Eucharist followed by refreshments and tours of the building, including Bishop Whipple's Crypt.

Youth and children's groups are encouraged to attend and participate in the procession. Contact Canon Bronwyn Skov to make arrangements. Please arrive early as this event is expected to draw a significant crowd. Directions and parking are available through this link.

Presiding Bishop's Visit to Minnesota: Schedule
Presiding Bishop to Witness the Diversity of Ministry and Mission in the Diocese of Minnesota
The Most Rev. Dr. Katharine Jefferts Schori, Presiding Bishop of The Episcopal Church, will be in Minnesota May 14-17 for an official visitation. Along with leading worship in Faribault, she will also visit the following locations:

Breck School
Friday afternoon, May 15
The Presiding Bishop will kick-off her visit to Minnesota at Breck School where she will share a meal with the children and join several classroom conversation. At the end of the day she will speak at the all-school chapel, which is open to the wider Breck community, including families, alumni, and school leadership.
 
Conversation and Q&A with diocesan clergy
Friday, May 15, 4:30 pm (refreshments starting at 4 pm)
Breck School Upper School dining room

On every official diocesan visitation, the Presiding Bishop requests time with the clergy. Organized around a Q&A format, this is a time for priests, deacons, and bishops in our diocese to learn more about the Presiding Bishop and the issues important to her and for clergy to share with Bishop Katharine their reflections on the particular nature of ministry in the Episcopal Church in Minnesota.
 
Conversation with Department of Indian Work leadership and tour of Prairie Island Indian Reservation
Saturday morning, May 16
The Presiding Bishop will have an opportunity to engage Minnesota's DIW and leaders from primarily Indian congregations, learning more about the Diocese of Minnesota's longstanding ministry with indigenous people - the largest ongoing ministry of its nature in the Episcopal Church.
 
Participate in First Nations Kitchen meal, Minneapolis
Saturday, May 16, 5:30 pm
A visit to First Nations Kitchen will highlight Bishop Jefferts Schori's particular interest in Shalom, peacemaking, by allowing her to participate in this urban, indigenous meals program.
 
Forum and worship at Holy Apostles, St. Paul
Sunday, May 17, 9 am forum, 10am worship
Bishop Jefferts Schori will celebrate Eucharist with the congregation of Holy Apostles, the only primarily-Hmong congregation in the Episcopal Church. Participating also in the adult forum preceding worship, she will learn more about the Book of Common Prayer Hmong translation project and about the unique nature of Hmong Episcopal worship.
