Knitting Hearts Together: Church of the Ascension, Stillwater, sets project record
Knitting Hearts Together is an ongoing program in which volunteers can donate hand-knitted squares to be stitched together into quilts for local homeless shelters. "We have received packages of knitting from as far away as Arizona," says the Rev. Kay Provine, Episcopal Homes' Director of Spiritual Life, "but nothing prepared us for the donation we received from Ascension this past weekend -- eight huge bags of beautiful, wildly diverse squares!" gc09Meet our 2009 General Convention Deputies
The Rev. Devon Anderson
Many of us know Devon from her passionate work around the Millennium Development Goals. Others of us know her through her service to the church on board and committees, including the diocesan DevonStanding Committee, the Diocesan Commission on Liturgy and Music, Diocesan Council, or the national church's Standing Committee on Liturgy and Music. Still more of us know Devon from her six years as Associate Rector at St. John the Baptist, Minneapolis.

However each of us has gotten to know Devon, we probably all have admired the thoughtfulness, creativity, and enthusiasm she brings to every project.

The Episcopal Diocese of Minnesota is now fortunate to have Devon as co-chair of the Minnesota deputation to General Convention 2009. Devon has been assigned to Committee 13: Prayer Book, Liturgy, and Music. In preparation for GC09, Devon has taken on the role of Project Manager for the national Episcopal Public Narrative Project, which is training deputies in the art of public narrative at all the provincial synod gatherings leading up to General Convention and will also help lead a four-part training at General Convention for all deputies and bishops.

"I am personally committed to General Convention's #1 mission priority: the Millennium Development Goals. I bring insight to General Convention from the global mission work embraced here in Minnesota. Having participated in the 2003 and 2006 General Conventions, I also bring a wealth of experience and understanding about the legislative process. To the role of deputy, I bring creativity and wisdom, needed stamina, agility in legislative procedure, and a prayerful, happy heart."
