Parochial Reports
Deadline is March 1
Thank you to the 20 congregations that have submitted completed parochial reports. This is just a friendly reminder to the remaining 85 congregations that fully completed parochial reports are due to the national Episcopal Church by March 1. It is extremely important in this year of electing the IX Bishop of Minnesota that parochial reports be submitted by the deadline. Parochial reports can be filed online using this link.
Stewardship
St. Matthew's Acts 2 Fund Supports Members in Need
All who believed were together and had all things in common;
they would sell their possessions and goods and distribute the proceeds to all,
as any had need. (Acts 2:44-45)

The current recession has far-reaching implications, touching the lives of congregations and individuals throughout Minnesota. While we often thinking of serving those in need as individuals outside our church doors, one community, St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, St. Paul, has responded with funds available to members of their own community. Uncertain times like these remind us of how important it is to plan for the future. Join us March 7 for new information and insights on how you can enhance your congregation's and your own readiness for long-term stewardship. RSVP to Kevin Shaw, Development Director, 612-870-3321.

Bishop Search Update

48 Applications Received; Next Steps
submitted by the Rev. Neil Willard
This is an exciting week in our search for the IX Bishop of Minnesota.  The initial application process, which is now closed, resulted in the submission of 48 applications.  The total number of candidates far exceeded our expectations.  These 48 individuals came to us in a variety of ways: recommendations from diocesan bishops, discernment with colleagues and parish leaders, encouragement by members of our congregations, networks throughout the country, clergy profiles from the Church Deployment Office, and simple word of mouth about our search website.  They represent a mixture of men and women, diverse ethnic groups, straight and gay, Minnesotans and non-Minnesotans, and a wide range of experience in their service to the Episcopal Church.  Please keep each of these persons in your prayers.

The members of your Bishop Search Committee are currently reviewing the applications and will meet on Saturday, February 28, at St. Mark's Cathedral in Minneapolis.  The months ahead will see an intensification of the screening and interview processes that will ultimately lead to a slate of 3-5 final candidates from the search process.  In addition to those eventual nominees for election, there will be an opportunity to add other nominees by a petition process established at the 2008 Diocesan Convention.
