G4 PCLink header - reflected
Greetings!
Philip Photo
You have received this email as you are either subscribed as a "dealer" "tuner" or "technical interest" on linkecu.com

Today's newsletter is in two sections.  The first covers the features and improvements to PCLink (logging is getting enthusiastic feedback) and improvements to the firmware which is the code within the micro-processor inside the G4 ECU.

I invite you to download the latest version of PCLink and try it out.  We will be releasing a YouTube video on our new G4 logging shortly.

There is a "forward" button at the bottom of this email if you know of others who may be interested.

We are now on FaceBook. Please click on this icon and "like" us so that you receive our updates.

PCLink - Features and Improvements
  1. PC Connection
    1. USB Drivers V6.1 now included in installer.
    2. Auto baud rate step up. Baud rate is automatically stepped up to the highest speed the ECU and firmware can support.
    3. 250k baud rate option added.
    4. The "Do you want to go offline?" message box has been removed.
    5. New firmware updater that can connect after an ECUs communication speed has been ramped up.
    6. The "Settings not written to" form that appeared after a PCL file download has been removed.
    7. Improvements to communications code. This is intended to decrease disconnect time and improve communications stability.
    8. The actual connection speed is displayed in the connection indicator (top right).
    9. Password protection can only be set to Disabled or Invisible for everything now. The separate options for setting and stats have been removed.
  2. Layout
    1. Space key now does "Go to active cell". This used to mark all tables. The B key does this now.
    2. Back/Forward button on settings panel. Use these like a web browser to go back to previous settings.
    3. Help buttons on view setup pages.
    4. Color Themes. A general color theme can be selected or customised.
    5. 3D surface colours can be turned off.
    6. The shortcut key Shift + T has been added, this brings up the AFR target table.
  3. Logging
    1. Completely new Time Plot view with enhanced scaling and zooming capabilities.
    2. New Log Parameters editor in log view properties form for adding parameters/groups and reordering them.

    3. Complete new histogram. Allows multiple parameters, overlapped display, color parameter and can show overlays.
    4. New XY Plot. Complete new XY Plot. Allows multiple parameters, overlapped display, color parameter and can show overlays.
    5. Multiple log files can be opened at the same time.
    6. Log File Manager Form. This menu displays all open log files and their sections.
    7. Log Sections. Allows logs to be divided up into sections (laps / runs / dyno pulls).
    8. Sections and Markers Form. Allows setting and editing section times and markers.
    9. Markers/Sections band on Time Plot. Double click to zoom on section.
    10. Current Section selection. Select a section (e.g. lap) as the reference section. All time is then referenced to start of this section.
    11. Drag Run Setup Form. Allows generating a drag run section and markers off drag run times.
    12. Section Overlays. Overlays sections on top of each other to compare them.
    13. Overlay Offsets. Adjust offsets to align data when overlaying two sections.
    14. Log markers can be added to show critical data points.
    15. PC Logging records a file each time logging is started/stopped.
    16. Time Formatting. Time is now formatted in H:MM:SS:ms format.
    17. Time Plot properties for Overlays, Offset Axis and Markers visible.
    18. O shortcut key to turn offset axis on and off.
    19. Log Files now have a name property in details.
    20. Improvements to Time Plot drawing efficiency.
    21. X-Y Plot and Histogram can now have their caption changed.
    22. Log All Button in PC Logging setup form.
    23. Status channels can now be logged in PC Logging.
    24. Left side menus. Changes to remember positions of docked pop-out menus.
    25. Error Log Form is now a docked (pop-out) form.

    28. Time Plot zoom centered on cursor.
    29. Fixed length for log recording. When PC Logging, only the last x seconds will be displayed. Refer to PC Logging Setup menu.
  4. File Handling
    1. Made so that layout folder is remembered when opening and saving layout files.
    2. Log files can be given an internal name in Log File Details menu.

PCLink G4 can be used with all G4 based ECUs.

Firmware 4.6.8
New Features
  • Engine Limiting
    • WARNING. Limit Control Range change.
      • This now operates in front of the limiting value instead of after the value
      • For example an RPM limit of 6,000 and control range of 200, the engine will begin limiting at 5,800 and end at 6,000.
      • Limits will need to be adjusted after firmware update, as required.
    • Advanced menu option
      • All limits, launch control and Anti-Lag cyclic idle have an advanced menu option.
      • When set to OFF all limiting advanced features will be disabled and the ECU will force default values simplifying the setup process .
  • Anti-Lag
    • Added Anti-lag solenoid option to all Auxiliary channels. This will be activated by the ECU when the Cyclic Idle or Anti-Lag mode is active.
    • Anti-Lag system has been updated to give more flexibility. Major points are around Cyclic Idle control including a dedicated "Cool Down" mode and the addition of an "Anti-Lag System Arming" option. Dual Anti-Lag table options have been added for the Ignition Retard, Fuel and Ignition Cut with table activation information located in the F12 menu.
    • Anti-Lag status switching options added to the "GP Output " option on all Auxiliary Outputs .
  • E-Throttle
    • Now has 3 independently controlled switchable Target Tables. They can be switched via digital inputs, virtual auxiliary channels etc or in conjunction with functions like Anti-Lag.
    • When used with Anti-Lag, tables can be switched to bleed extra air into the engine under Cyclic Idle and/or Anti-Lag conditions and can be incorporated with the new Dual Anti-Lag system.
PCLink - showing e-throttle target maps
  • ECU communication Baud Rate has been increased to 250k.
Simon's Tip
Simon
"Have a dedicated folder to store your PCLink files in"

It is often the case that as you update PCLink versions or as PC's are changed tuning and configuration files are lost. By having a dedicated folder it is much easier to find the files when needed and much easier for doing backups.

I keep my folder on my desktop labeled "PCLink". In it I have:
  • .pcl files - the tuned maps for various engines and maps that you may have sent me to look at and evaluate
  • .llf files - the layout settings that personalises the PCLink "look and feel" to how I like it
  • .llg files - log files that I have recorded and been sent
  • .rtc files - run-time configurations E.g. how I like the various gauges.

Don't hesitate to contact me for further help by email, or directly

Cheers,

Simon - Tech Support

We are confident that you will be delighted with this new version of PCLink.  Remember, keep us updated with projects and successes as we're always interested.
