Goal Setting Contracts

 
Set your goals for the month or the summer.  Whether your goal is to increase your cardio 30 minutes a week or to lose 10 pounds over the summer setting those goals with your trainer gives you that accountability.  The contract sets your goal, and you and your trainer sign the accountability form.  This reminds you and the trainer of the specific goal that you have set for yourself.  For more information, talk to your trainer about setting some goals and having that accountability!!

SallyRetireSally Ayers  completed over 30 years of service to Collier County Schools at Naples Park teaching first grade.  I joked with Sally after having our first child that she would have to keep teaching till Sydney she was in first grade.  She said that sorry she would be retired by then.  Well Sydney just completed first grade so now she can retire. 
 
Sally has been a client at Fitness Inside & Out for over 10 years.
 
After retiring I asked her what she was looking forward to and she said being able to work out more!!  She now is setting her sights on challenging Phil and Jane for top spot on the cardio board.

Red CrossThe Red Cross needs our help!
 
There are over 800 homeless or displaced students here in Collier County. 
 
The Red Cross is looking for donations to help these kids succeed in school.  As of today, The Red Cross only has enough school supplies for 30 of those homeless students.  They need our help.
 
Fitness Inside & Out is collecting money to help purchase supplies.  We are planning to make the delivery to The Red Cross  August 14th.   If you can spare a little, I am sure it will go far.

Triatholon and Family and Friends

NDN Story 
Patricia Burdick and Melissa Belz recently competed in a triatholon in Orlando.  It was a family affair as well for Mother's Day.  Melissa and Patricia's moms were there as well as other family and friends.  They swam 1/2 mile, biked 12 miles, and finished with a 3.1 mile run.  Clients set your goals for next year.  Guys, you're off the hook it's just for women.  Great job!! 
 

Fantasy Football Season to Start Soon!!

NDN Story
The second annual Fantasy Football season is about to kick off.  There are a total of twelve teams in our league, and last year was the first year we created a league just for Fitness Inside & Out.  For the two of you that have not heard, Roy Nash won!!  Seven of the participants had never played before so they had the computer make their picks for them.  It is amazing how much is done for you.  If you would like more information just let me know.  If you are interested please email at naplesfitness@comcast.net.

In Home Food Analysis

 
I am starting to do in home food analysis.  I realize that most people eat the same types of foods and their shooping patterns do not change that much.  My goal is to not change what you are eating but to modify it so that you are more conscience about the ingredients and make better choices with your daily diet.  Often clients will ask me about various foods, and I am not familar with the products.  If I am able to read the label and see the product I will be able to tell you if I like the product or not and WHY!! 
 
I realize that people have various lifestyles and comfort levels and I want to be able to set your dietary needs around you and for me to adjust your diet to your lifestyle.  I feel that is a better approach than to just writting down a list of foods without having an idea of what you would typically eat.  Let me give you an example.  Breakfast cereal, orange juice, and yogurt.  What cereal, what orange juice, what yogurt?  Based on what you are eating I can make suggestions to help improve your diet, digestion, and medication absorbtion.  The medication absorbtion is key.  If your digestive system slows down so does the absorbtion of medication which will cause you to have to take more to offset your digestive system.
 

Physician Packets

 
I have put together physician packets for area physicians that include information on Fitness Inside & Out.  Included in the packet are trainers bio's, and an information sheet for physicians.  If you would please take a packet to your physician I would greatly appreciate it.  I feel the more physicians realize the various specialties that our trainers have, the more we can benefit our cleints. 
 
In the packet is also a complementary card that the physician can use to tour the facility, have a complimentary training session or massage.
 
If there is a particular physician that you recommend in various specialties please let me know.  During season I have clients that are always wanting a list of physicians for various specialties. 
 
The packets will be available by the end of August.
Seasonal Clients Set Schedule for Next Year
 
Thanks for a great season and your support of Fitness Inside & Out.  We realize that you have many options in Naples and we appreciate your support of Fitness Inside & Out.  Please set up your schedule for next season.  Also, if you are interesed in getting massages on a regular basis, we can get those on the tentative schedule for next year. We can always adjust your schedule if your schedule changes, but this way you are in the schedule for the days and times that you prefer.

Pan-seared red snapper with caramelized fennel and pomelo served with nasturtium berries
 
 
Ingredients:
2 fillets of red snapper (6 oz)
1 fennel
1 pomelo pealed and segmented
Fresh ground allspice
Fresh ground red chili
Sea Salt
1 tablespoon sliced nasturtium berries
1 tablespoon coconut oil
 
Method:
Preheat oven to 450°F.
Have two sauté pans ready to be used, each with a teaspoon and a half of coconut oil. Slice the fennel and season with a little salt to encourage it to weep. Place first pan with coconut oil on stove with high heat. When you place the fish in the pan make sure that it falls away from you as to not splash hot oil onto yourself. Then season fish in the pan skin-side down. As soon as the red snapper starts to turn white around the edges it is time to flip the fillet away from you, and then place pan and fish in oven. Meanwhile, place the second pan with coconut oil on stove with high heat. As soon as the oil begins to smoke, place seasoned pomelo in the pan. It will caramelize relatively quickly. Flip with tongs and add the shaved fennel. Season to taste. Place pomelo and fennel on preheated plate. Then remove fish from the oven and place atop bed of caramelized fennel and pomelo. Garnish with sliced nasturtium berries
 
Pay close attention to the video and you will notice that the reporter is as tall as the refrigerator.  She had to stand on a stool to offset Don at 6'10".

Cardio Corner
Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans recommends at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity activity or 75 minutes of vigourous-intensity activity a week for basic health benefits.  That would be 30 minutes five times a week for moderate activity or 25 minutes three times a week of vigorous activity.  Put your initials on the cardio board and set your monthly goals!!

Nutrition Class Sign-Ups

 
Fitness Inside & Out will be doing nutrition classes this fall.  If you are interested in the class, please let Mike Edwards know so he can add your name to the list.  Topics covered in the class include the basics of nutrition and what your body needs, food label distortions and ingredients to avoid. 
 
The class is designed around the needs of the class and recipes are tailored to class participants as well.  The first two classes have been completly different based on class members and their interests. The class will include 3 sessions (1-hour each) and a cooking demonstration.
