Seasonal Clients Set Schedule for Next Year

Thanks for a great season and your support of Fitness Inside & Out.  We realize that you have many options in Naples and we appreciate your support of Fitness Inside & Out.  Please set up your schedule for next season before going north to insure you get the days and times that you prefer.  Also, if you are interesed in getting massages on a regular basis, we can get those on the tentative schedule for next year. We can always adjust your schedule if your schedule changes, but this way you are in the schedule for the days and times that you prefer.

Thanks again for your support, have a great summer, and continue with your workouts!! If you have any questions or conerns please email Mike at naplesfitness@comcast.net. If you have suggestions on ways that we can improve Fitness Inside & Out, please let us know.

The Fitness Inside & Out staff

P.S. Keep in touch. If you need us to speak to your trainer or another health care provider up north we are happy to assist you in any way we can.

Also, we have some new "distance learning" classes and seminars that we're making available online and via a call-in system. We hope to launch the first class in June, so check the Fitness Inside & Out web site at www.naplesfitness.com for updates.

Bob Buchholz wins March Madness!!!

Bob B winnerCongrats to Bob Buchholz for winning March Madness at Fitness Inside & Out.  I believe this is Bob's first victory, but I will check the records.  After the first round, he said he had no chance.  With each round, he improved and had both Michigan State and North Carolina in the championship game. To make matters worse, my Fantasy Football QB Jay Cutler is now a Chicago Bear!!!  I wonder who Bob will pick first in Fantasy Football ??

Summer Cardio Challenge!!!

Seasonal Clients start logging in your minutes of cardio for the month.  Whether your walking outside, treadmill, tennis, elliptical, biking, or swimming log in your minutes and email me at the end of each month at naplesfitness@comcast.net.  Set some goals for summer with your cardio and keep accountability by logging in each month.  Year round clients do the same for summer vacations and when you are out of town.

Naples Harvest has more than 5,000 pounds picked and donated

Thank you for the donations! Local homeowners have generously given their citrus to Naples Harvest this season.  We have picked and collected over 5,000 pounds of citrus and various vegetables to donate to St. Matthews House and Grace Place.

What is amazing is that this came from less than 20 trees.  We have several people who do not have anymore citrus but who have signed up for next year.  Mangos, avacados, and limes will be coming on in the next few months and the UPick off Corkscrew Road has allowed us to come out before the end of May.

If you know of any organizations, groups, or individuals who can assit in picking please let us know!!

Please spread the word to homeowners who have citrus and other produce that Naples Harvest is willing to pick if they are willling to donate even just part of their back yard harvest.

If you want to pick with us, we would love a donation of your time. If you have any questions ask, Mike Edwards.

Nutrition Class Sign-Ups

Fitness Inside & Out will be doing nutrition classes this summer.  If you are interested in the class, please let Mike Edwards know so he can add your name to the list.  Topics covered in the class, include the basics of nutrition and what your body needs, food label distortions and ingredients to avoid.

The class is designed around the needs of the class and recipes are tailored to class participants as well.  The first two classes have been completly different based on class members and their interests. The class will include 3 sessions (1-hour each) and a cooking demonstration. Space is limited so email Mike at naplesfitness@comcast.net or call 239-649-7181.

1  tablespoon  whole-grain Dijon mustard
1  teaspoon  fresh lemon juice
1/8  teaspoon  salt
1  garlic clove, minced

1/4  teaspoon  ground red pepper
4  (6-ounce) halibut fillets
2  teaspoons  organic canola oil

Preparation
1. To prepare sauce, combine first 8 ingredients in a bowl. Cover and chill.
2. To prepare fish, combine paprika and next 7 ingredients (through red pepper). Sprinkle fish evenly with seasoning mixture. Heat oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add fish to pan; sauté 4 minutes on each side or until fish flakes easily when tested with a fork or until desired degree of doneness. Serve with sauce.

You can just make the blackened fish but I put the sauce to give you ideas of another way to flavor various vegetables as well.

Cardio Corner
Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans recommends at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity activity or 75 minutes of vigourous-intensity activity a week for basic health benefits.  That would be 30 minutes five times a week for moderate activity or 25 minutes three times a week of vigorous activity.  Put your initials on the cardio board and set your monthly goals!!
