Naples Harvest is now a 501C |
| Naples Harvest has recently become a 501C under NNUMC (North Naples United Methodist Church). This gives individuals and organizations the opportunity to dontate money to be used to purchase local fresh produce for local shelters. Since July 2008, Naples Harvest has donated more than 2,000 pounds of fresh fruit and produce to local shelters such as St. Mathews House and Grace Place.
The weekend of March 15, we picked moer than 500 pounds of oranges from a U-Pick grower off Corkscrew that donated the fruit to Naples Harvest.(And we got a great work-out!) The local shelters are very appreciative since most of their donations are in the form of boxed or canned goods. Through weekly donations, Food & Thought has donated more than 200 pounds of local produce in less than a month. The more awareness there is in the community, the more we can benfit the community. Please spread the word to homeowners who have citrus and other produce that Naples Harvest is willing to pick if they are willling to donate even just part of their back yard harvest.
Although we prefer fruit and vegetable donations, if you would like to make a monetary donation on behalf of Naples Harvest, checks can be written to NNUMC (North Naples United Methodist Church) care of Naples Harvest. Or if you want to pick with us, we love a donation of your time. If you have any questions ask, Mike Edwards.

Credit Card Finance Charge |
|
Starting this month, Fitness Inside & Out will be adding a 2% finace charge to credit card and debit charges. If you pay by check or cash, this will not affect you. I realize that clients like to use the cards for buisness purposes and points. However, we have not had a fee increase in several years and we need to offset some expenses at this time. If you have any questions, let me know. Thank you for your business and continued support. Mike Edwards |

Update Medical Information
with Your Trainer |
|
I have been creating a confidential database with our clients so we have current medications on file. I just have 15 clients so far. Ask your trainer for a medication sheet to update your records. Because medications have side effects, it's important for us to know what you are taking so we can stay alert for issues that may affect your training and overall health. Thanks!!

Grapefruit-Fennel Salad
2-3 grapefruit
1 head of fennel
Cut the grapefruit in sections and use the juice for the salad. Chop up the fennel and add to the salad. You can use a grater if you want to and slice the bulb as well.
Use as a side salad or on top of a salad and just add olive oil, nuts, or whatever you prefer on your salads.

Fennel-Parmesan Poppers
Bulb of fennel
Parmesan cheese
Slice the bulb of the fennel. Place on a cookie sheet and sprinkle with parmesan cheese. Broil in the oven for 3-5 minutes until golden brown.
Fennel is high in phytonutrients, antioxidants, Vitamin C, fiber, folate, manganese, and potassium.
Anethole is present in fennel and helps reduce inflammation, protect the liver, improve cardiovascular health, and it assists in protecting your colon.

| Cardio Corner |
| Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans recommends at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity activity or 75 minutes of vigourous-intensity activity a week for basic health benefits. That would be 30 minutes five times a week for moderate activity or 25 minutes three times a week of vigorous activity. Put your initials on the cardio board and set your monthly goals!!
