The King's Birthday Celebration in Thailand

Born on December 5, 1927, King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great is the 9th king of the Chakri Dynasty, and having taken the throne on June 9, 1946 is the longest reigning monarch in the history of Thailand.

He is beloved and deeply respected by the people of Thailand, as well as by people all over the world. Each year on December 5, homes are decorated with flags, lights, and the King's portrait, the Grand Palace is spectacularly decorated, and the whole nation prays to bless His Majesty with health, happiness, and strength.  On this national holiday, there is an outpouring of love and reverence for the King.

At the age of 85, the King continues to impact the lives of the Thai people.  It seems to be a neverending display of gratitude.
