MEET TOM, WORLD ENDEAVORS THAILAND CONTEST WINNER
 World Endeavors launched our first ever volunteer
contest in spring 2009, offering the chance for one person to win a month-long
volunteer trip to Thailand, based on his or her response to a question about
social philanthropy. We received over a
hundred responses, and although selecting the contest winner was not easy, we
were pleased to select Tom Mitchell, a junior at the University of Minnesota. Tom has been volunteering throughout the
month of August in Ang Thong, Thailand, teaching English at a temple school and
immersing himself in the Thai culture.
For those of us who aren't lucky enough to be there with
him, Tom has been sharing his experiences through a video blog. So far, he's shown us some of the great
tropical fruit he's been eating, how to ride a tuk-tuk through the streets of
Bangkok, how Mothers' Day is celebrated in Thailand, and even his awesome
karaoke skills on a karaoke bus!
