Greetings!

Thinking Beyond Borders is focused on the future. As this year's class explores critical global issues, they are reflecting on the value of the service they'll complete as compared to its value in shaping the rest of their life's work. As we prepare to begin recruiting the class of 2013, TBB announces a new program in Thailand. As we continue to pursue our mission, we make new efforts to make TBB programs affordable for all qualified applicants, regardless of financial need. Look ahead with us...

Service Learning Lasts Forever

By: Katherine Koller, TBB '12

...Service projects, while they do usually produce a world of good, end when you leave. However service learning, lasts forever. Perhaps we may not get quite as much accomplished with the projects as I would have liked, but we are developing skills that will aid us in more effective, passionate, and well thought out service projects for the years to come.  Thinking Beyond Borders is just the jumping point, for a lifetime of service work. I feel as though it is our duty after completing this program, to put what we've learned to use. This program isn't just about helping now; it's about training us for a future filled with service projects.  Perhaps I'm jumping to this conclusion too early, we haven't even really started. But the main purpose of this trip has sort of changed for me, and I just thought I'd let you know...

TBB Is Working to Make Its Programs More Affordable

By: Robin Pendoley

When Sandy, Chris, and I founded Thinking Beyond Borders in the fall of 2005, we shared a common vision: TBB must be available to every qualified student, regardless of tuition cost. This belief and commitment has always been at the center of the planning and vision for TBB among the founders, board of directors, and staff. Of course, this vision must walk in stride with another: we are committed to offering the highest quality program possible. While we feel confident we continue to succeed in this second vision, we still have a lot of work ahead of us to make the program affordable for all.

It's hard not to be excited about the road ahead. The class of 2012 will be sharing such incredible learning with us. We'll form the class of 2013 and the first Thailand Gap Semester program group starting October 1st when begin applications coming in. More students will be able to participate in TBB programs as tuition costs fall and new partnerships create new opportunities. Thank you for all of your contributions that have helped to make this progress possible!

Sincerely,
