Greetings!

As the Thinking Beyond Borders community continues to grow, there have been quite a few people asking about Gap Years.  How many people take them?   What are the benefits and challenges?  Is it a viable option for strong students?  This month, we thought we'd take a minute to answer these questions.

b.goodYou may not be familiar with the term "Gap Year," but you almost certainly know someone who has taken one.  The concept of taking a year away from formal schooling between high school and college is not new.  However, what is new is the rapid expansion of programs created to help students take full advantage of this time.  Gap Years are here to stay, and they just may change the way we think about education.

Training for the Cleveland race is going well.  I'm up to 3K, and Chris just ran a half marathon while visiting schools in Florida!
