 Greetings!

Welcome music lovers to Spring, 2009!

Can't believe this is the first newsletter of the new year but we've been so busy at Music it's the first chance I've had to write something down. Lots of new Plasma and LCD televisions, Stereos & Home Theatres have been installed and new Canadian CDs keep flooding in the door.

We just finished our year end and {ugh} inventory so there have been very few dull moments. Toss in the odd trip to Toronto (a weekend at the Maple Blues A
Judywards in January was a highlight) and the calendar pages keep flying by, tearing off.

Heading into March we're looking forward to longer days and sights, smells & signs of spring, more so this year after thre
e solid months of white stuff to contend with.

There's a great selection of live music events in our area in the next while. Musicians love an audience, audiences love live music, it's good for your soul to get out there. It will lift your spirits!

Cheers
Judy, Neil & Buddy

New Canadian CDs . . . just a click away

Chloe Albertˇ Chloe Albert ~ Dedicated State (Roots)
A new favourite of ours is this powerful young Edmonton singer-songwriter we have been hearing tons of on Tom Allen's Radio 2 morning show. Just after we ordered CDs from Chloe she won the most promising new artist award at the Canadian Folk Music Alliance event in St John's, NL. Fresh, funky, relaxed & soulful stories & songs that hit all the buttons. Brilliant CD!

Harrison Kennedyˇ Harrison Kennedy ~ Voice + Story (Blues)
From the 70's Detroit group 'Chairmen of the Board' Hamilton's elegant roots/blues musician presents a splendid stripped down recording (done in Germany) that showcases his stories and well-weathered voice. His songs 'tell the truth and shame the devil' just like his mother told him to. Harrison's performance at the recent Maple Blues Awards show was a big hit {but singing "Give Me Just A Little More Time" to Judy at Music's side door was even better}

Kevin Foxˇ Kevin Fox ~ Songs for Cello & Voice (Pop)
Halifax native.Toronto resident Kevin's skillful sophomore recording reminds us that the cello is capable of sensational, varied and evocative sounds, and combined with Kevin's compelling voice makes an appealing recording of self-penned tunes + a couple of covers. Kevin's a composer, arranger, wildly busy sideman & another brilliant discovery thanks to Radio 2!

Jeremy Fisherˇ Jeremy Fisher ~ Goodbye Blue Monday (Rock)
Meet a new Canadian troubadour we're listening to these days. Jeremy is a fresh-voiced 30+ singer-songwriter who writes meaningful songs and sounds, in an acoustic rock & roll way, a lot like a young Bob Dylan or Neil Simon. Upbeat hook-laden tunes for the chilly days we're experiencing. Produced By Hawksley Workman. Check out Jeremy's You Tube video now watched by over 2 million viewers: "Cigarette"

Danny Michel ˇ Danny Michel ~ Feather, Fur & Fin
(Pop / Rock)
Danny's title as this country's undiscovered musical treasure must be frustrating. Eight fantastic albums later, regular Vinyl Café artist, a critic's favourite, CBC radio host, composer, producer, multi-instrumentalist, genius. There's heart and soul in Danny's music, along with thought-provoking lyrics (If God's on Your Side comes to mind) that'll keep you spinning way past bedtime. Get this CD & we guarantee you'll want more.

                                                                     $17.95     Buy Now

Stephen Fearingˇ Stephen Fearing ~ The Man Who Married Music (Folk / Rock)
He's a stellar guitar player, a sublime songwriter, a solid producer. On this 'greatest hits' CD {15 tunes including 2 new ones} all his talents are in one package. Stephen cryptically refers the release as a herald to the next phase of his life. He's moved to Halifax, perhaps the sea air will inspire him to even more creative projects.
