Lincoln's Favorite Arts Destination!

2012 Lincoln Arts Festival The west parking lot at SouthPointe Pavilions will once again be everyone's favorite art destination this September 22nd and 23rd. We're in our second decade with great new food vendors, musicians you love, an expanded Patron Sponsor program, and of course, a full house of artists from across the nation. This year we have artists from 14 states, and perhaps the best mix of disciplines we've ever had.

The Huskers will be playing Idaho State so you can shop for some new art for your life and then take the shuttle to the stadium. We'll hold your art till you return. If you know already that you are attending the Lincoln Arts Festival, consider taking a great step up with our Patron Sponsor Program. You'll feel great supporting the artists and your arts council. You'll feel even better with a free breakfast chatting up your fellow arts lovers and the special privileges that make Patron Sponsors the favorites of our artists.

Destination: Lincoln Arts Festival

2011 Lincoln Arts Festival

What do the following companies have in common?

They are all sponsoring the 12th annual Lincoln Arts Festival!

Why? Actually.... Most say because it is such a fun event for entire families that is FREE to attend!  That's pretty unique and their kind support enables us to continue this great outdoor event.

We are still (very much, in fact) looking for additional sponsors for this year's festival - do you have a suggestion for us? Please give Tara a call at our offices (402-434-2787) or email her at tara@artscene.org .

Volunteer Opportunity!

Lincoln Arts Festival Volunteer-in-training Do you enjoy:

  • Being outdoors?
  • Being around wonderful like minded people?
  • Being surrounded by a plethora of wonderful art and artists?
  • Interacting with children?
  • Serving a greater good?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, you would be a perfect fit to be one of many volunteers that we need for this year's Lincoln Arts Festival!

We have a hundred artists to care for, children to entertain, musicians to support and many thousands of art lovers who want a clean, safe, enjoyable experience. Over the two days of the festival, it takes nearly a hundred dedicated volunteers to make things go smoothly. Call the Lincoln Arts Council at 402-434-2787 to become one of the reasons that artists say the Lincoln Arts Festival is one of the best run festivals in the country. You'll get a lot of satisfaction for a job well done, and a nifty t-shirt you'll actually be proud to wear.

Three Questions...

  1. Want a great looking membership mailer? Call ebbeka design at (402) 441-4649. That's what we did and wow does the new LAC membership mailer look GREAT!!!

  2. Have you read our mission statement lately?

Here's the first line: "it is our mission at the Lincoln Arts Council to inspire a creative community through promoting, cultivating and sustaining the arts in Lincoln."

So how do we inspire a creative community when all of us reading this newsletter know how awesomely creative the arts community is in Lincoln?

Piercy comes from huge win at the Canadian Open to Lincoln to play in the Lincoln Arts Council's Golf Event.

Fore Arts Fore Fun

That was our dream headline. Talk about a celebrity golfer! Actually, we hope you are talking about our upcoming LAC Golf Outing Friday, September 14th, 2012 - 12:00 noon at Yankee Hill Golf Course.

And the reason Scott Piercy isn't really coming to our great fundraiser outing? Because no one has invited him...at least we're pretty sure that's the reason.

So what golfers do you have in your circle of friends that aren't coming because they don't know anything about it? We're getting going around the office here and sending out Facebook invites to everyone we know that golfs to see if they would come.

Oh....you don't know any golfers and don't golf yourself? Well we've already thought about that - come for the burger buffet at 5:30 and at least get your name in for one of the prizes! You are going to have to eat something that night anyway, why not a burger with us?

Here's the link you can just copy and paste to your friends (we really do try to make it easy here!)

Lincoln Municipal Band

Lincoln Municipal Band

A true pillar of the arts in Lincoln, the Lincoln Municipal Band has been performing free concerts for our community for an incredible 105 years, entertaining many generations of Lincoln citizens. In 1907, Lincoln residents were treated to the first concerts of the Lincoln Municipal Band at the state fairgrounds, and today the ensemble continues a regular summer concert series at Antelope Park, a tradition that began in 1911. The Lincoln Municipal Band remains Nebraska's only professional wind ensemble and the state's oldest professional music organization of any kind. The band's summer concert series offers audiences an opportunity to hear Lincoln's finest professional musicians, in the beautiful park setting, free of charge.
