Remember the LAC In Your Year End Giving Plans

2011 End of Year Simply put, the Lincoln Arts Council is the champion for the arts in the capital city. The LAC supports the arts through a diverse variety of programs and activities. We provide arts and events information, to our local residents and also to our tourists. We promote and coordinate exhibition opportunities which showcase artists from our area, as well as artists from across the country. We serve as representatives for arts advocacy efforts in the city, champion the efforts for federally funded projects and efforts, and provide funding for a variety of performing arts organizations and venues.

To do our great work, and to support Lincoln's great works, we too need support: support from people like you. Our year end support drive will soon be under way, and we ask you to help us in our quest: to inspire a creative community. Watch your mailbox for our donation request later this month, or make a donation on our website.

If you would like to give now to the Lincoln Arts Council, please follow this link and show your support!

F Street After School Art Club

For the past several years, the Lincoln Arts Council has been a partner site for AmeriCorps, a program of the Corporation for National and Community Service.  The Lincoln Arts Council is one of many organizations in Lincoln who host AmeriCorps members. These individuals provide various types of programming for the community.  This year's AmeriCorps program is focused on Education Community Outreach.

The Lincoln Arts Council AmeriCorps member will be providing art education programming that will be offered to the community at various partner sites. These programs will include planning and teaching for after school art clubs at the partner sites, supporting artists-in-residence programs throughout the community, and providing Lincoln artists with opportunities to exhibit their work.

The Lincoln Arts Council is excited for this program, and the opportunities it offers - to provide art education programming in the community, and to advance our mission to inspire a creative community!

The Crucible - A Special Collaboration

Hi, Lincoln arts supporters. In case we haven't met, let me introduce myself: I'm Becky Key Boesen, Executive Director of the Angels Theatre Company and I want you to come see our upcoming production of The Crucible.

See? No hidden tricks or gimmicks. Just a direct ask for your support of this very special collaboration.

Collaboration. Now there's a word that gets used a lot. It sounds impressive, but what does it really mean in an arts community?

True collaboration is when many people or organizations work together to make something happen. Really work. Sleeves rolled up to the elbow kind of work...or at least that is the case with The Crucible.

Let's start at the beginning: What do you need to make a play happen? First, you need a script.  More...

For even more gallery openings on First Friday, check out our November First Friday guide.
