Another Year, Another Great Festival for All!

2011 Lincoln Arts Festival A few comments heard in the aisles:
"How did you summon up this fabulous fall weather?" (well, we ask for it every year)
"The quality of the artists is terrific, and great diversity." (from artists and patrons alike)
"How come there aren't more people here to listen to this great music?" (wish we knew)
"This is one of the best run festivals I've ever been to." (high praise from several veteran artists)

About a hundred artists, about a third from the region and the rest from all over the country (19 states) set up in the sunshine at SouthPointe Pavilions this past weekend. The FabTones, Toasted Ponies, and Vince Learned Project among others kept music in the air, and the people came. They looked, laughed, bought a LOT of art and savored the weather and ambience of a beautiful fall arts festival. If you were there, you know what I mean, if you weren't, give it a try next year because everyone was having a great time.  Either way, you can still relive some of the festival through the photos on our Flickr page.  More...

2011 Lincoln Arts Festival Young Artist-in-training

Our volunteers could barely keep up with all of the activity that was happening at this year's Lincoln Arts Festival Kid's Art tent! Coordinated by the Lincoln Arts Council's AmeriCorps member, Mollie Magnuson, there were four equally popular kids art activities: dream catcher making, button making, bookmark making, and a watercolor station. There was at least one activity that was of interest to every child that visited the tent. On top of the art activities, the wonderful Jim King used his magical instruments and vocals to successfully get kids dancing and creating music alongside of him.  Thank you to all of the families that came to the festival and allowed us to share the arts with your children. It was a blast!

Golf enthusiasts swing for the arts at LAC Golf Event

2011 Lincoln Arts Council golf outing The Lincoln Country Club was host to the First Annual Lincoln Arts Council Golf Scramble. Golfers of all skill levels were eager to tackle the challenge of Lincoln's most distinguished golf course while enjoying picture-perfect weather conditions.

Hosted by LAC board members Adam Letheby and Jeffre Chadwick, the event also included a silent auction, featuring works donated by artists Karen Kunc, Joe Ruffo and Amy Smith. Co-host Adam Letheby was thrilled by the high level of enthusiasm for the new event. 'We would like to thank everyone involved,' he said, 'from the LAC staff and board members to the golfers and artists who made this first-year event a success for the Lincoln Arts Council. We truly appreciate their support, and look forward to next year's event!'

Volunteers ROCK!

2011 Lincoln Arts Festival volunteers A HUGE thank you to all of the volunteers for their help in making the 2011 Lincoln Arts Festival a great success!  Over 50 volunteers helped make this year's festival run smoothly.  It was a fun and busy weekend and the feedback we have received credits the volunteers for making the weekend so enjoyable, not only for the public but for the artists.  From the set up/tear down crew, who used their strong muscles to set up and tear down tents and move totes to and fro, to the boothsitters, who were willing and ready to give the artists a break from their booths at any point in time, to the survey takers, who walked around talking to random strangers taking audience surveys, to those of you who were being bombarded by kids ready to get creative in the kids tent....you all did a wonderful job!  We love our volunteers and are grateful that you were willing to donate your time, with smiles on your faces, to help with the Lincoln Arts Festival.  More...
