Holiday Craftacular was Spectacular!

Craftacular 2010
On Thursday, November 18, 2010 the third annual Holiday Craftacular Sale and cocktail party was held at Zen's Lounge.  With spirits high and a packed lounge, Zen's provided Lincoln with the perfect spot for people to come and support local artists and the Lincoln Arts Council.  "Craftacular 2010 was a huge success. We had a great group of talented artists showing their wares, and the venue was bursting at the seams with attendees," said Jackie Ostrowicki, one of the participating artists and also one of the founders of Craftacular, "In 2011, we'll repeat the event in the fall-and will possibly hold a Spring Craftacular as well."

This year's Craftacular consisted of 13 local artisans selling handmade gift items.  To be able to give a gift that is handmade and unique is one of the best gifts you can give and this year's Craftacular provided the Lincoln community with just that.

Artist Spotlight - Casey Shephard

Casey Shephard
Mechanical. Post-Apocalyptic. Raw.

These aren't typical words that come to mind when describing jewelry, but Casey Sheppard's jewelry is far from typical.

With names like "I Have a Golden Ticket", "Crazy Pantz" and "Tri-My-Pod", each design has a unique personality and a story to tell. Sheppard does not always know what each piece will be when she begins working. "I start with an idea," she says, "and it evolves. I have to let the metal do what it wants. It comes to life as it evolves and I bond with it." It is not until after a piece is complete that she truly knows what it is and can give it its own name. More...

Arts Roundtable December 14: Publicity in the Arts

Artist RoundtablePlease join us for a roundtable discussion on Publicity in the Arts on December 14 at 3:30 pm at the International Quilt Study Center. The goal of the December Arts Roundtable is to facilitate discussion of strategies to raise the profile of the arts in Lincoln through the dissemination of information to local arts writers and broadcasters. One such strategy is to brainstorm with invited guests from the media about how individually and collectively, with the Lincoln Arts Council facilitating, artists and arts organizations can best provide the public with information. Everyone is welcome, we hope to see you there!
