It's Time To Make Your Mark In Support of the Arts!
You can feel the change in the weather, the cast of the sun shifting and the colors of autumn coming to fruition. It has been a great year for the Lincoln Arts Council and the arts community. We have accomplished many new initiatives, including our fab web site that serves arts organizations, artists, citizens and tourists. A special thanks this time of year for all your participation and financial support. We hope you will continue to mark your support for the Lincoln Arts Council. Like most nonprofits, we rely on your memberships and generous donations to fulfill our mission as your "official" arts service agency. Donate today!

Roundtable Series for Artists and Organizations
The first Arts Roundtable session was held on October 12, when over 20 artists and arts administrators came together to network and discuss issues that are important to the Lincoln arts community. From this discussion dates, locations, and topics for future roundtables were determined:
- December 14, 2010, International Quilt Study Center: Publicity for the Arts
- February 8, 2011, First United Methodist Church: Community Engagement and Outreach
- April 19, 2011, Mayor's Office: City Wide Public Art Project with the Mayor
- June 14, 2011, The Clark Enersen Partners: Grants and Working with Corporations
- August 9, 2011, TBA: Arts in Education: Working with Schools
Along with the topics designated for each session, there will be time at each meeting for discussion of collaborations, new projects, and ideas to make our arts community stronger. We hope that you will mark these dates on your calendar and join us for the roundtable series.

Artist Spotlight: Kurt Knecht
Kurt Knecht didn't necessarily plan to end up living in Lincoln, Nebraska. With a Bachelor of Music from the University of Tampa and a Master of Music in Composition from Southern Methodist University, he could have gone anywhere for his Doctorate degree. But thanks to Dr. John Richmond, who worked with Knecht in Florida and suggested he take a look at the University of Nebraska, we are lucky enough to have this internationally renowned composer and performer call Lincoln home. Knecht received his Doctor of Music Arts in Composition with a minor in Organ Performance from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He is currently the organist and choir director at St. Marks on the Campus Episcopal Church, teaches music history at Nebraska Wesleyan University, works as an accompanist for various organizations and events, is regularly commissioned, and publishes with Walton Music.
