The Lincoln Arts Festival September 25 & 26 @ SouthPointe Pavilions
Art can challenge or affirm your beliefs, bring beauty to
your life, make you laugh, or cry... or mad. Arts Council members like that. They
know that exercising the mind muscles of perception and discrimination are just
as important as physical exercise. So when an opportunity like the Lincoln Arts Festival rolls around, they get excited about the new perspectives brought in by
artists from all over the country. More... |
More Fun!
The Lincoln Arts Festival is a juried art fair, a gathering
of both local artists, and artists from all over the country who share their
art and knowledge with artists and art patrons in the Lincoln region. It is a
fun and popular event, drawing fifteen thousand art lovers which, we're sure,
includes you. Please don't feel too bad, but a small group of those art lovers
are going to have way more fun than you. Yup, way more. They are the Patron Sponsors, and the elite at the Lincoln Arts Festival for their cornerstone
support of the festival. More... |
Festival Includes Activities for
Artists of All Ages This
year's festival will include an interactive youth activities center full of fun
and surprises for your budding artists. Children will have the chance to create
a refrigerator masterpiece or a great surprise for grandma. Jim King will
also be on site again this year with his popular songs and games, for the young
and young at heart. Barnes and Noble will also be hosting an activity inside
their store. The kid's interactive center is generously supported by the Kinder
Porter Scott Family Foundation. |
Entertainment at the Festival
What would a festival be without music? We are excited to
have a stellar line up of musicians for this year's Lincoln Arts Festival. It
all begins at the exclusive Patron Breakfast with music by David Von Kampen,
who is currently a masters student in music composition at the University of
Nebraska. David is a three time winner of the Vancouver Chamber Choir Young
Composers Competition, a 2008 ASCAP Young Jazz Composers Competition Finalist,
and was awarded the Vreeland Award for "exceptional creative ability" by the
UNL School of Music in 2007. You will probably want to become a patron sponsor to
have an opportunity to enjoy this talented musician! More...

New Resources for Arts Organizations and Artists
We know that those working in the arts often have limited resources with
which to promote your events. Did you know that many local radio/TV
stations and publications have community calendars that you can add your
events to for free? It's true!
To help you get the word out about your
events we have compiled a list of these community calendars and how to
access them. We have also uploaded new documents from the DeVos
Institute of Arts Management at the Kennedy Center with guidelines on
successful fund raising, board development, institutional marketing, and
strategic planning. You can find them on our Best Practices Documents page in the Resources section of ArtScene.org.

Don't
miss these opportunities!
Lincoln is a community filled with talented artists and arts
organizations all of which need continued support! In an effort to help
grow the arts in Lincoln, the Lincoln Arts Council has two exciting
opportunities coming this fall.
We will be issuing a call for proposals
for LAC Project Grants in late September. The grants are awarded to 501c3 LAC
member arts organizations on a competitive basis. Funding priorities and
criteria will be part of the call for proposals.
On October 12, 2010 the
Lincoln Arts Council will facilitate an Arts Roundtable discussion to be held
in room 104 of Temple, UNL city campus. Our goal for the first roundtable
is to determine relevant topics followed by action. All are welcome! Stay
tuned for more information on both of these exciting opportunities on our web
site, ArtScene.org.
